A Forum with candidates for Flagstaff City Council and Mayor, “Non-profits & the Community”, will be held tonight, Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 5:00 – 8:30 P.M., at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Arizona.
All six candidates for Flagstaff City Council and both Mayoral candidates will attend “Non-profits & the Community”. The Forum will provide voters the opportunity to hear each candidate’s views on a variety of issues relating to non-profit organizations’ impact on the community’s economic and social health. Candidates will share their views on city government policy as it pertains to non-profit organizations and the public sector, how the economy is impacting the non-profit community, non-profits’ role in providing efficient services to local governments, and more.
The Forum opens with a Reception from 5:00 – 6:00pm, where attendees can speak with the candidates in an informal setting. The 10th Annual Recycled Art Exhibition will be open for viewing during the Reception, and light snacks and beverages will be provided. The Mayor Candidate Forum will begin at 6:00pm, and the Council Candidate Forum will begin at 7:00pm.
The Forum’s moderator is John Stark, general manager of KNAU Arizona Public Radio. Stark has been KNAU’s general manager since September 1993, transforming KNAU into the thirteen-station Arizona Public Radio network. He creates projects such as Poverty with a View, Edge of the Rez, and Commitment to Localism. Stark served two terms on the NPR Board of Directors (2004 – 2010) and chaired the Grand Canyon Association board of directors (2009 – 2010.) Prior to arriving in northern Arizona, Stark programmed and reported for public radio stations in Las Vegas, Boulder, Fresno and Denver and worked at NPR in Washington.

The video of the Forum will remain available on http://culturalpartners.org after the Forum, up until election day, which is May 15, 2012.
Questions are invited from the community in advance of the Forum. Any Flagstaff resident or local non-profit staff or Board member can submit questions to be considered for inclusion in the Forum. Questions must be submitted by email to info@culturalpartners.org, and sent no later than April 2, 2012, for consideration.
