Murder, intrigue and friendship meet in “Return to Osage Beach,” a new novel by Flagstaff author Gene Munger.
The story follows how tragedy and politics shape the lives of three couples who grew up together, meet at a beach reunion and are changed forever. An unsolved murder brings out the truth in their relationships and shows how time changes things.
“Trust becomes a recurring theme. Each couple perceives the investigation from a different viewpoint,” Munger says.
The book concludes Munger’s last novel, Leaving New Madrid, about the murder and influences of growing up in segregated Missouri. Both stories remind the reader that where they come from shapes opinions and relationships. The mystery is solved, but Munger allows readers to ponder if the friendships survive or not.
Leaving New Madrid and Return to Osage Beach are available at Barnes & Noble and Arizona Handmade Gallery in Flagstaff and on Amazon.com. Royalties from both book sales support an endowed Ruth H. Munger scholarship at Southeast Missouri State University. FBN
