The 1899 Bar & Grill was the Southwest Editor’s Pick for Flagstaff, alongside two other high-end restaurants in Tucson and Scottsdale. Sunset praises the “slick new 1899 Bar & Grill” on its decidedly non-culinary-school elegance, saying it packs a professional punch with dishes such as the beef tenderloin with lobster tail, and the achiote chicken in jalapeño cream. The magazine notes the sophistication and comfortable price range of the upscale dining options when compared with other university-associated restaurants. According to Sunset, the reasonable prices paired with upscale food and sophisticated dining room earns the 1899 an A+ all around.
