Coconino Community College (CCC) recently hired Dr. Russ Rothamer as Vice President of Academic Affairs, a well-respected seat on the college’s executive leadership team. Rothamer has dedicated more than 25 years to higher education as an administrator and professor. He is a recognized leader in developing meaningful initiatives that help institutions meet and surpass their growth goals.
“Russ is results driven and has a strong track record for spearheading successful student programs. He will be a valuable asset to improving the college’s learning experience and expanding its reach,” said Dr. Leah L. Bornstein, President of CCC. “It is a pleasure to welcome him to the CCC family, and I look forward to what his experience, leadership, creativity and vision will bring to the college.”
As a member of the college’s executive leadership team, Rothamer will help plan and execute institutional initiatives and policies. He will assist in developing long-term organizational goals and plans, managing human and fiscal resources, establishing liaison relations with community organizations, and evaluating the performance of the college’s operations.
Rothamer will also assist in managing the activities of the Academic Affairs’ three divisions – Arts & Sciences, Career & Technical Education and Corporate & Community Learning. His responsibilities will include overseeing the curriculum for the college’s associate programs, technical training programs, workforce training courses and adult education classes.
“Throughout my professional career, I have maintained a passion for helping students meet their learning goals by establishing initiatives that enhance the value of the educational process,” said Rothamer. “Coconino Community College boasts that same enthusiasm and is extremely progressive in prioritizing student success. Prior to this appointment, Rothamer most recently served as Dean of Business, Community Services & International Programs at Northcentral Technical College based in Wausau, WI. He was recruited by Northcentral Technical College in 2006 and also served as Dean of Business & International Programs and Dean of Business during those years.
From 1999 to 2006, Rothamer held education leadership positions at Walt Disney World Resorts. He was the Disney University Segment Learning and Development Manager, College Educational Partnerships Manager and Team Lead of the College and International Learning Programs. Rothamer’s career history also illustrates a number of positions with the University of Florida including Director of Student Services, Associate Director of Student Services, University School Instructor and Interim Director of Admission and Student Services.
Rothamer holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Education-Social Studies and a Bachelor of Arts-History from the University of Florida.
