Celebrating Flagstaff’s Role in the Olympics

August 3, 2012 By techsuperadmin

As the Olympics get underway, Flagstaff will be represented by 143 athletes from 19 counties, who trained in the Northern Arizona town. An event was held at the Orpheum to view the Opening Ceremonies of the London Olympic Games.   Sean Anthony, director of HYPO2Sport Management, tells Flagstaff Business News, the roster of athletes who trained in Flagstaff was distributed at the event.

“I would be hard pressed to name a community anywhere in the country that can definitively lay claim to so many Olympians from around the world,” said Anthony.  “The successful coordination of so many training camps that help move athletes along the continuum of sport performance depends on many people in the community, and we have sent thank yous out to many of our local partners   without whom this kind of activity (high altitude training in Flagstaff) could not be accommodated.”
