City Manager Candidates

The Flagstaff City Council has invited four candidates to Flagstaff to participate in the in-person interview portion of the search for a new City Manager.

The final candidate names and a brief biography are included below:

 

  • Jill Keimach has 32 years of public service with a Master’s in City Planning and Bachelor’s in Architecture. She most recently served in the California cities of Alameda, Moraga, Fremont, El Cerrito and Oakland.

 

  • John Craig has 19 years of public service and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. He is currently the Deputy City Manager in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

 

  • Sara Hensley has 25 years of public service with a Master’s in Education and Bachelor’s of Science. She is currently the Interim City Manager in Austin, Texas. Prior to this she served as the Parks and Recreation Director in Austin as well as Phoenix, Arizona.

 

  • Shane Dille has 21 years of public service with a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Bachelor’s of Business Management. Dille is currently one of the Flagstaff Deputy City Managers. Prior to joining the city of Flagstaff he worked for other Arizona government agencies including Nogales, Queen Creek, Buckeye, Wickenburg and Gila Bend.

    All of these candidates have moved around an awful lot. My take on city managers in general is that they move around a lot to drive up demand and salary. I don’t know what the salary in Flagstaff is but I have seen some very high salaries published in other local that are far beyond the responsibilities and demands of the job. I say promote from within.
