Community Grieves Loss of Officer Tyler Stewart

December 30, 2014 By FBN

Tyler Stewart Poice

Flagstaff Police Officer Tyler Jacob Stewart would have marked one year with the force on New Year’s Eve. The rookie cop, nicknamed “Stewy” by his squad, is remembered for his enthusiasm, work ethic and excitement for his future career. Police spokesperson Sgt. Margaret Bentzen says Officer Stewart was shot and killed in west Flagstaff Saturday afternoon, Dec. 27, while speaking with a suspect about an earlier domestic violence incident. Flagstaff Fire Station #1 and Guardian Medical Transport tried to revive the 24-year-old. Both his father and grandfather are law enforcement officers with the state of Arizona. Stewart is survived by his mother, father, three sisters and girlfriend.
