U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) recently had the honor of meeting with the United States Army Soldier of the Year SGT Sherri Jo Gallagher of Prescott, Arizona.

Gallagher joined the Army Jan., 30, 2008, and was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team June 12, 2008, after she completed Basic Training and Truck Driver School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. SGT Sherri Jo Gallagher currently serves as a service rifle shooter and instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Ga.
Her military awards and achievements include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon, Distinguished Rifleman Badge, President’s Hundred Tab, Schutzenschnur badge.
She is a native of Prescott, Arizona.
To receive her title, Gallagher competed against 24 of the Army’s finest Warriors, representing 12 commands worldwide in the 2009 Best Warrior Competition held at Fort Lee, Va. October 2010. Described as the “Super Bowl” of Army competitions, the Best Warrior Competition tests each competitors’ Army aptitude, conquering urban warfare simulations, board interviews, physical fitness tests, written exams, and Warrior tasks and battle drills relevant to today’s operating environment.
