The Flagstaff Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is hiring Heidi Hansen to be the department’s new director. She will be responsible for the overall operation of the CVB and its $1.6 million budget.
City management screened and interviewed numerous talented candidates during the search process which also included an opportunity for the hospitality industry, tourism commission and interested community leaders to meet and offer feedback on the finalists.
Heidi’s extensive experience within the sales and marketing industry, especially in Flagstaff and northern Arizona, elevated her to the top choice for the position according to Stacey Button. “Heidi is a recognized leader within our community, and I am thrilled to have her as part of the Economic Vitality Division leading the high performing CVB and Visitor Center team. Her ability to conduct needs analysis and effectively communicate key messages as part of strategy development is critical in the continued advancement of the local tourism industry, Button said.
Heidi comes to the City of Flagstaff with more than 24 years of experience in sales and marketing. She has worked for the past 11 plus years at the Arizona Daily Sun as the Retail Sales Manager and presently the Advertising Director. Heidi has also worked in the Phoenix Metro area for eleven years at the Arizona Republic and Independent Newspapers.
Heidi says this job allows her to continue to use her skills for the community and region she loves. “I am excited for this opportunity to join the City of Flagstaff as their CVB Director. I realize having lived in Flagstaff for many years and working in the sales and marketing industry how vital tourism is to our community. I look forward to the opportunity to further enhance and strengthen the city’s programs while helping our community continue to move forward”, Hansen added.
Heidi brings a track record of innovative and creative ideas having implemented a number of programs to draw visitors to Flagstaff such as supplemental visitor guides and the popular “99 Things To Do” magazine. These sections offer residents and visitors alike ideas and destinations to visit in Flagstaff
Heidi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising from Northern Arizona University. She is also active in the Flagstaff community through her family, the Flagstaff Leadership Program, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Coconino Community College Scholarship Committee, as well as the College America PAC program.
The City of Flagstaff and the staff of the Economic Vitality Division look forward to welcoming Heidi when she begins her duties on November 5th. The CVB staff is prepared for a smooth transition to new leadership and will ensure the day-to-day marketing continues seamlessly!
