“We offer a toast in honor of Dark Sky Brewing as October’s Dark Sky Champion!”
“We chose the name Dark Sky Brewery as a homage to Flagstaff’s beautiful night skies and intend to support and promote the beauty of our home through craft beer,” said the brewery’s Event Coordinator Miguel Sotelo. “We rely heavily on our connection to the sky as we develop and design new beers year ‘round. By doing so we have created a craft beer selection that is as unique and beautiful as every star, meteor and comet we can see right from our backyard.”
Dark Sky Brewing has created a special IPA to support the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition during this month’s continued Celebration of the Night. Circadian Rhythm is a Hazy IPA full-bodied beer with strong notes of citrus and juice. “For us, this collaboration just makes sense,” said Sotelo. “We chose the beer ‘Circadian Rhythm’ because of its bright and powerful flavors. Like the members of our beautiful community, we are thrilled at the opportunity to support the bright and powerful people that directly protect, educate, and support Flagstaff as the First International Dark Sky City.”
Through October, a portion of Circadian Rhythm IPA sales will benefit the Coalition and its efforts to keep Flagstaff’s starry skies dark, promote dark-sky friendly lighting and inform others about the benefits of the dark sky resource.
In addition, as the company grows and gains recognition for its craft brews, Dark Sky Brewing is aiding in dark-sky awareness. Its brews such as Quiet Life and Rainy Daze are now in beer and wine establishments and taprooms in the greater Phoenix metro area. With a solid nod to the dark sky resource and space exploration, Dark Sky Brewing offers merchandise such as the Crowler Series and other glassware, stickers, key chains, coasters, knit beanies, baseball caps, t-shirts and muscle tanks in its taproom and online.
Meanwhile, as Celebration of the Night continues this month, events include NightVisions Satellite exhibits at Arizona Handmade and The Artists’ Gallery, online presentations highlighting cosmic features and space exploration, and “The Uncertainty Principle,” a ticketed dance performance at the Coconino Center for the Arts from Human Nature Dance Theater. We are thrilled to have Dark Sky Brewing as a sponsor and appreciate their ongoing efforts to get the word out about the many ways we value our dark skies, including for science discovery and adventure,” said Coalition Board Chair Chris Luginbuhl. “We offer a toast in honor of Dark Sky Brewing as October’s Dark Sky Champion!”
