Dependent on fire activity, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) expects to lift its pre-evacuation warning for residents impacted by the Slide Fire in the Kachina Village and Forest Highlands subdivisions atnoon Monday, May 26.
The pre-evacuation warning was issued Wednesday and asked residents to prepare for possible evacuation.
Mandatory evacuations remain in place in Oak Creek Canyon from Slide Rock State Park to Sterling Springs Hatchery.
CCSO’s decision to lift the pre-evacuation notice on Monday is based on discussions with the Slide Fire Incident Command Team; progress made to date on combatting the fire and near-term forecast weather conditions. It is subject to change between now and Monday based on any unforeseen developments with the Slide Fire.
The County will notify residents this evening via the CodeRED emergency notification system about lifting the pre-evacuation notice for Kachina Village and Forest Highlands.
