The year 2020 can be a year of economic change for people who have dreamed of owning a small business or expanding a current business. Starting or expanding a small business takes courage and the willingness to accept new challenges. It takes planning to overcome those challenges and to take risks to achieve the rewards of a growing business. It also requires access to financing. These are two challenges with which our local non-profit community-focused business development partners can help. They can help generate a business plan and get access to capital (business loans).
County services are available for people who want to start a business or want to know how to get a commercial business loan, especially if it is a start-up. County residents also have access to commercial loans to hire more staff and expand an existing small business.
People interested in these services should follow the simple steps to unlocking financing in 2020. Business loan funds are available at varying interest levels depending on the amount of financing (loans up to $150,000 are possible to start and expand businesses in Coconino County).
Step A: Have a complete business plan (with financial projections). If people don’t have one, there are resources available through Coconino County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) Basic Business Empowerment Program or the Coconino Small Business Development Center (Coconino SBDC).
Step B: Connect with the Sustainable Economic Development Initiative (SEDI) to apply for a business loan.
