Temperatures are slowly dropping. Crisp, golden leaves are floating to the ground. Scarves and boots are replacing tank tops and flip-flops.
Arizona Snowbowl is thinking snow.
With a projected opening date of Nov. 28, Snowbowl is ramping up for winter. Season pass sales are in full swing! Purchase your pass during the preseason sale – by midnight on Oct. 15 – to get the best deals. Arizona Snowbowl will be selling and printing passes at events in Flagstaff and Phoenix for the next several weeks. For a list of locations and dates of events, visit www.arizonasnowbowl.com.
Ski and Snowboard Films
Even without any snow on the ground, skiers and snowboarders will become eager for the season with the premier of several new ski films.
Jeremy Jones’s snowboarding film, “Higher: The Final Chapter” features footage of some of the most talented winter athletes in the world as they take on untouched slopes. “Higher” will be playing at The Green Room on Oct. 23. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Plus, the iconic Warren Miller films return this winter with their newest feature, “Warren Miller’s No Turning Back.” Screen this action-packed ski and snowboarding movie in Flagstaff at the Orpheum Theater on Nov. 15 and in Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale from Dec. 10-12.
Shop ‘til You Drop
Winter warriors looking for the best deals on gear and accessories should stop by the Flagstaff ski swaps coming up in October and November.
Ski Pro is holding their annual swap Oct. 17-19 in the Albertson’s parking lot. The swap will feature a wide variety of gear from Ski Pro at exceptionally low prices. The swap benefits the Flagstaff Alpine Ski & Snowboarding Team (FASST). There will also be a public swap for skis, boards and boots.
Altitudes Bar and Grill is also hosting a swap on Nov. 8 where all of the local Flagstaff winter shops will be selling discounted gear. This swap also benefits FASST and includes a silent auction inside Altitudes. The public is welcome to bring any gear to swap.
Don’t forget to stop by all of the local specialty winter shops in Flagstaff to stock up on all of your winter necessities.
Snowbowl Job Fair
Winter enthusiasts looking for seasonal employment should attend Snowbowl’s annual Job Fair on Nov. 5 from 3-7 p.m. in the Hart Prairie Lodge.
Every winter, Snowbowl has a positive impact on the local economy by hiring over 550 employees including ski and snowboard instructors, cashiers, cooks, lift operators, parking attendants and more.
Interested applicants should visit www.arizonasnowbowl.com to print and complete a job application to present to managers. Interviews are completed on the spot, so Snowbowl advises applicants to come dressed appropriately for a job interview. FBN
