Firefighters Fueled by Girl Scout Cookies

June 15, 2014 By Flagstaff Business News

Girl Scouts Cookies FirefightersThe San Juan Hotshots were the first on the scene as local Girls Scouts from Troops 61 and 474 delivered nearly 200 boxes of their famous cookies to the Slide Fire Camp. “The girls wanted to thank the firefighters for their hard work and for keeping their communities safe,” said Troop Leader Nikki Lober.

The Slide fire that burned more than 21,000 acres started on May 20 north of Slide Rock on the west side of Oak Creek Canyon. During the peak firefighting effort, more than 1,200 firefighters and nine helicopters were on the scene. Some 200 homes and businesses were evacuated, but fire officials say not one structure was lost.

Boxes of Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Trefoils and Do-si-dos could be seen in the hands of grateful firefighters and on the hoods of their fire trucks. FBN
