The City of Flagstaff and its partner ECONA (Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona) recently attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES is the world’s largest meeting place for global innovators. This year, more than 900 startups from over 40 countries exhibited in the Eureka Park marketplace. This is where the most talented tech pioneers come to unveil their latest innovations. It only makes sense that Flagstaff, The City of Innovation, would be represented at this event.
The City of Flagstaff is committed to bringing high wage, low impact jobs to the citizens of Flagstaff. In my role as the business attraction manager, I attend industry conventions such as the Bio Med Device, ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and BIO International. Attendance at these major conventions provides connections with decision makers in key industry sectors looking to expand or relocate their business. Companies today are not just looking for a low cost location to do business, they are also interested in a destination where their employees can comfortably live, work and play.
The City of Flagstaff recently launched a Visit, Discover, Grow campaign. This cross-section effort was put together to highlight tourism, the airport and economic development. Visit Flagstaff and Discover all the things to do here. You will want to stay and Grow your business just like Bill and Vieve Gore with W. L. Gore & Associates did 50 years ago. A multi-page advertorial highlights many existing businesses in Flagstaff. This marketing piece was distributed via business journals in Phoenix, San Francisco and San Jose, California. We are already seeing an influx of talent attracted to the Flagstaff lifestyle from these specific regions. I am confident that we will see more like-minded businesses that want to be a part of the innovation that takes place in our beautiful mountain city. Please check out flagstaffarizona.org/visit.discover.grow/ to see this publication and for more helpful tools for your business.
Next month, Flagstaff will welcome a new major employer to our community. Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Arizona (RHNA) will provide specialized rehabilitative services, including occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy to patients who are recovering from disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses and chronic medical conditions. The facility will include 40 inpatient beds, a 7,000 square-foot therapy gym and treatment center, an aquatic therapy pool and an outdoor therapeutic courtyard. The rehabilitation hospital will also use the latest in advanced medical and therapy technology, including specialized therapeutic equipment. RHNA can be reached at 928-774-7070 or rhna.ernesthealth.com.
These are just a few ways that your City of Flagstaff Economic Development team is attracting the right businesses to the region. Focusing on key industry sectors such as advanced manufacturing, bioscience, health care and technology innovation provides high wages and low impact jobs. We are grateful that Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Arizona will employ approximately 150 Flagstaff residents and continue to be a part of the growing medical hub that Flagstaff has come to be.
