Fifty years ago this month, Neil Armstrong made one giant leap for mankind as the first human to walk on the moon and Aspen Place at the Sawmill is commemorating the occasion with the Lunar Legacy Block Party.
As Apollo 11 astronauts first trained in Flagstaff before the moon landing, Aspen Place is celebrating their legacy with a free block party with live music, giveaways and more. Aspen Place tenants are also getting in on the action by offering pizza and cannoli samples from Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and raffle prizes from ESenEM Yoga, Mcsweeny the Salon, Board and Brush, Someburros, Seasoned Kitchen, Lia Leaf Tea House, Lowell Observatory and The Village at Aspen Place.
In partnership with the Coconino Community College, the “Lunar Dreams” exhibit will also be on display at the Comet Art Gallery showcasing paintings, photography, sculpture and mixed-media artwork that celebrate the moon from scientific, cultural and personal perspectives by local and national artists alike.
