The following questions and answers offer insight into what drives this local business owner and the services and products he provides.
FBN: What do you like most about living in Flagstaff?
Rothlisberger: I love the sense of community in Flagstaff. The people are proud of our community and are genuine and welcoming. I’ve lived many places, but Flagstaff is where I plan to call home for the rest of my days.
FBN: How long has Kitchen Tune-Up been in Flagstaff and what inspired you to purchase the business?
Rothlisberger: Kitchen Tune-Up has been in Flagstaff for the past 10 years. I’ve always loved remodeling projects and that passion, along with the great history of KTU in Flagstaff, made purchasing this business an easy decision.
FBN: For readers who may not be familiar, how would you describe what Kitchen Tune-Up does, and how it’s different from a full remodel?
Rothlisberger: Kitchen Tune-Up can change the look of any kitchen on nearly any budget. Many kitchens need a cosmetic upgrade, but the basic structure of the kitchen is solid and can be re-used. We have five core services that focus on these improvements, whether through a tune-up to refurbish tired wood cabinets or through refacing or re-dooring, which completely changes the look of the kitchen without demolition and installation of new cabinets. We can give a homeowner the feel of a brand-new kitchen in under a week, without the cost, hassle and mess of a full remodel.
FBN: What types of kitchen updates are homeowners in Northern Arizona requesting most right now?
Rothlisberger: Our most popular services are the Original Tune-Up, which refurbishes existing wood cabinets to look nearly new, and refacing, which replaces doors and drawer fronts in a modern style, while veneering existing cabinet frames to match. The Tune- Up is a one- to two-day process, while refacing is completed in three to five days, both at a fraction of the cost of a full remodel.
FBN: What do you hear most often from customers about why they decided it was finally time to update their kitchen?
Rothlisberger: People tell me all the time that they’ve lived with their ugly kitchen for years and have always wanted a change. Many have had no idea there were options to address this without a full remodel. When they’ve heard about Kitchen Tune-Up’s services, performed at a fraction of the cost of a remodel and in a week or less, they’re excited and we’re excited to finally give them the kitchen of their dreams.
FBN: How does Kitchen Tune-Up help homeowners refresh their kitchens without the disruption of a traditional remodel?
Rothlisberger: One of the KTU “Trustpoints” that we live by is that we respect your home. Our crews are trained to work cleanly and efficiently. In most cases, the homeowner is never without the use of their kitchen during the process. We arrive on time, clean up when we leave and minimize the impact of this project on the homeowner’s life.
FBN: What sets your business apart from other kitchen or cabinet companies in the Flagstaff area?
Rothlisberger: KTU lives by five “Trustpoints” that guide all of our activities. We Listen Carefully. We Arrive on Time. We Respect Your Home. We Provide Solutions. We Communicate. By focusing on these five key areas, we take the stress out of a kitchen renovation project. Our focus on quality and attention to the needs of the homeowner are what sets KTU apart.
FBN: Can you share a recent project or customer story that really represents the work you’re proud of?
Rothlisberger: We recently worked with a lovely customer named Patty who had disliked her kitchen for 20 years. It took several visits and consideration of many colors and styles, but we found exactly what Patty was looking for and transformed her kitchen with a reface and new countertops. We truly appreciate our customers and leave gifts at the completion of projects. Patty appreciated her new kitchen so much that she left a gift for us as well!
FBN: Are there trends you’re seeing locally in styles, colors or functionality that readers might find interesting?
Rothlisberger: Flagstaff has two distinct trends that are currently popular. Many people love the traditional stained wood look for their kitchens. Others prefer the white or light-colored kitchens. It’s about a 50/50 split. Fortunately, Kitchen Tune-Up can provide both: the accessories and finishing touches to make the kitchen beautiful and functional.
FBN: As a locally owned business, how do you stay connected to and support the Flagstaff community?
Rothlisberger: I have long been a part of the Flagstaff business community. I am an active member of the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce and am always seeking ways to support Flagstaff businesses, both through my professional referral network and in my personal purchasing decisions.
FBN: What advice would you give homeowners who are considering updating their kitchen but aren’t sure where to start?
Rothlisberger: Give us a call! We love getting to know you and understanding what your unique dreams are for your own kitchen. We offer free consultations and work with you to develop the best solution to your situation – we’re ready to help! FBN
