Flagstaff Modern Dentistry, a new practice that opened in April on Regent St. and Butler Ave., is operating under the PRIVATE PRACTICE + business model. As the first of its kind in town, the model works as a partnership between the dentist and the regional company, Pacific Dental Services, which supports the practice by managing the office and administrative tasks so the dentist can focus on treating patients. The partnership also provides economic benefits for new dentists to own and build their practices with the latest technology and equipment.
“I’m so excited for this place because it offers modern dentistry and exceptional care to the community of Flagstaff,” said Dr. Adrienne Harmon, DMD. “We receive amazing support from Pacific Dental Services.”
Harmon has been providing dental services for North Country HealthCare for the past six years and worked as a pediatric dentist in Phoenix before that. She and her team opened Flagstaff Modern Dentistry in April.
Lindsey Reuter, Pacific Dental Services regional marketing specialist, says the advanced technology in the office includes digital X-rays that produce up to 90 percent less radiation than typical film X-rays, electronic record keeping, non-surgical laser therapy for gum disease and same-day crowns using a high-tech imaging machine, similar to a 3D printer, that contours and mills a ceramic crown right there in two hours.
“With the CEREC technology, the ceramic crown is one solid piece of material, not ceramic fused to metal, so there are fewer issues with breakage,” said Reuter. “The CEREC uses a tiny camera to identify the size and shape of the crown, so no gooey impressions are needed and the fit is precise. Patients leave with their permanent crown so they don’t have to wear a temporary crown or come back for another appointment.”
With every crown made, a donation goes to charity: water, a non-profit organization that brings safe, clean water to developing countries. Harmon believes in giving back to the local community, as well. She says the practice supports organizations such as the YMCA Flagstaff. She also travels to Haiti twice a year where she started a clinic and provides dental health services to those living in the poorest country in the western hemisphere. FBN
