As Northern Arizona Healthcare strives to improve the health of the population it serves, new partnerships and collaborations continue to form.
The NAH Board of Directors voted unanimously Thursday, Nov. 15, to strengthen its relationship with orthopedic surgeons in the region and create a system service line, moving toward integrating services of FMC and VVMC. The board approved moving forward with the acquisition processes for Summit Surgery Center in Flagstaff.
NAH anticipates closing on the surgery center building and business by March 31, 2015. Flagstaff-based orthopedic surgeons with Northern Arizona Orthopaedics and Flagstaff Bone and Joint will remain independent, not becoming employed by NAH. Summit Surgery Center staff, however, will become NAH employees.
This partnership will continue to strengthen NAH’s high-quality orthopedic services.
Northern Arizona Healthcare provides healthcare services through Flagstaff Medical Center, Verde Valley Medical Center, Verde Valley Medical Clinic, Team Health, Northern Arizona Homecare, Northern Arizona Hospice, The Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona, Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare, Fit Kids of Arizona and Guardian Air. The system provides the only Level I Trauma Center and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit north of Phoenix.
As the largest healthcare organization in Northern Arizona, the system serves almost one half of the state and exceeds 150,000 patient visits each year. Northern Arizona Healthcare employs more than 3,300 staff and has approximately 300 physicians on its active medical staff. As a nonprofit organization, it is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
