October is Manufacturers Month in Arizona, as declared by Governor Jan Brewer. What a great time to raise awareness around our local manufacturers that make products on which we rely and use a lot.
We salute a few, including: W.L. Gore and Associates (medical devices), SCA Tissue (paper products), Joy Cone (ice cream cones), Nestle Purina (pet food), Machine Solutions (medical device machinery), Kahtoola (snowshoes), Novakinetics (aerospace) and Senestech (animal sterilization).

You may not know that the Northern Arizona Manufacturing Partnership (NAMP) is a dynamic and interactive group of manufacturers, which is part of the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce.
W.L. Gore and Associates hosted the latest quarterly NAMP meeting. Erin Hutchinson and Susan Spinelli made presentations on company history and profile, products, business process and medical products manufactured in Flagstaff, and the global reach of those products. Preferred competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities of ideal Gore associates were also discussed.
Workforce Development Specialist and ACT Program Manager John Nelson also gave a presentation on college, career and certification paths in the manufacturing sector.
