Timberline Firearms & Training is hosting its official grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.,Saturday, July 28. Participants 18 years old and older can shoot a Daniel Defense fully automatic rifle and other guns for free, with manufacturer representatives from Ruger, Walther, Patriot Ordnance Factory, Springfield and others available to provide expert advice. Shooting Lanes will be available at half price.  Arizona Citizens Defense League and Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team members will be on hand, as well as local Cub Scouts, who will be raising money through hot dog sales.

The 11,000-square-foot, full-service firearms, ammunition and training center offers 12 lanes, each 25-yards long, that are environmentally friendly, plus a retail store and training facilities. It’s located six miles north of the Flagstaff Mall at the corner of Highway 89 and Copeland Lane.

“We offer our local community a safe and environmentally friendly place to maintain and improve their skills,” says Timberline owner Rob Wilson. “It’s very rewarding to be able to provide a service that’s been missing from the Flagstaff area.”

Wilson, a retired Navy Senior Chief and Phoenix television news videographer Elise Wilson opened the range to share their passion for the sport and promote firearm safety, training and practice.

“We recognize that marksmanship is a perishable skill, and now, locals have access to the equipment and facilities that will maximize their training,” said Elise.

Timberline Firearms has created 13 jobs, including range safety officers and instructors. The range offers formal courses including Basic Pistol, Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW), Wilderness First Aid and Land Navigation. It also is the training site for law enforcement officers, and a meeting center for groups such as The Well Armed Woman.

Saturday’s event includes raffles of a Windham Weaponry AR-15 Rifle, valued at more than $1,000, a Walther P22 handgun and many other prizes.

Timberline Firearms & Training is committed to safe, responsible firearm ownership and use.
