School’s out, and it is time to plan your escape! While insurance may be the last thing on your mind, we have some tips to help you save money and protect your possessions and your family.
Boats, RVs and Toys!
This is the time of the year that we dust off our big toys and head for our favorite vacation locations. We all recognize the need to insure these expensive toys; but you may be interested in knowing some insurance tips. First, most people simply add their boat and RV to their homeowners’ policy. While this is perfectly fine, there are specialty policies available that are designed just for these items. In addition, by separating these from your homeowners’ policy, if a claim is made, it will not negatively impact your homeowners’ policy. This is a good way of isolating risks in an appropriate manner and many times expanding your coverage. Interested in learning more? Give us a call.
Going Overseas?
So, you are headed out on a big adventure. We receive calls all the time asking if our customers’ private insurance policies will cover them out of the country. In most cases, the answer is “yes.” Most health insurance policies will cover you for emergencies worldwide. However, there are travel policies that are very inexpensive to purchase, which will provide coverage for some very important things. For example, these travel policies will provide coverage for injury and illnesses that would not be considered “emergencies.” In addition, these policies will cover evacuation. Should you need to be flown to the nearest qualified facility that would accommodate your specific medical needs, this would be covered. Finally, there is usually coverage provided to fly a family member to be with you if you are hospitalized.
Mexico Auto Insurance Update
If you are planning a vacation to Mexico, you must have Mexico domiciled auto insurance. Without it, you likely have no coverage in the event of damage or theft to your vehicle. In addition, you run the risk of you and your vehicle being detained in the event that you cause an accident. Effective February 2013, the at-fault liability limits required by the Mexico government were increased from minimum limits to about $300,000 Combined Single Limit (depends on Mexican State but this is the average that is required). According to Nate Watson, COO of Mexpro.com, “while this increase in liability limits seems drastic, the actual effect on the premiums is quite reasonable. All of the Mexican Insurance companies that we represent are offering much higher limits for very competitive pricing.”
Mexico Home and Boat policies are also available to quote and purchase. All policies that we sell do come with legal assistance that includes Guaranteed Bail Bond if you should need it.
