Northern Arizona residents now have access to a cardiac electrophysiologist at The Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona (HVCNA). Lynn Otto, M.D., is the newest physician to join HVCNA. As a board certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist, Dr. Otto specializes in the electrical activities of the heart, including diagnosing and treating irregular heart rhythms and implanting and managing heart devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
“Electrophysiology is one of the fastest growing fields in cardiovascular care and The Heart & Vascular Center is the only cardiovascular physician practice in Northern Arizona to offer this progressive specialty on a full-time basis,” said Steve Lewis, M.D., FMC chief medical officer. “We are honored to have Dr. Otto join our team of cardiovascular specialists. By expanding our services to include a heart rhythm specialist, the Heart & Vascular Center and Flagstaff Medical Center are continuing to ensure Northern Arizona residents have access to comprehensive quality cardiovascular care close to home.”
Before moving to Northern Arizona, Dr. Otto worked in cardiology outreach in Montana and Wyoming and as the medical director of the Heart Failure Disease Management Program in Billings, Mont.
After earning her medical degree from University of Utah Medical School, she relocated to Phoenix to complete her internship in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Otto them completed two physician residency programs – one in anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania and the other in internal medicine at the University of Utah. To specialize in electrophysiology, Dr. Otto completed two additional years of fellowship training in cardiology and electrophysiology at the University of Colorado in 1998. FBN
