No Food. No Water. No Shelter. NO Clothes. That is the challenge a Flagstaff resident, Eva Rupert accepted, when agreeing to be a contestant on Discovery Channelʼs Season 2 Naked and Afraid. With nothing but the wilderness and a camera around Eva and her partner they were forced to produce a means of survival within the environment of Madagascar for 21 days.
This isnʼt your mommaʼs Real House Wives reality television; Naked and Afraid is a reality television series that aired on Discovery Channel in June 2013. Two contestants (male and female) are brought to a remote area with nothing but a satchel with a dairy, camera, and a map. Together the two must survive some of the most extreme environments. It is the ultimate survival challenge, as the nude couple uses bran and brawn to overcome the harsh conditions of the terrain as well as their own weaknesses.
Eva Rupert, a local tattoo artist and non-profit entrepreneur received a phone call inviting her to join the newest season of Naked and Afraid. She eagerly accepted the challenge. She was brought to Madagascar, and taken away from her modern, civilized small mountain town.
Evaʼs passion for primitive skills and survival comes from a powerful connection with the natural world and a desire for ultimate self-reliance. She took her love of the outdoors one step further, she ditched the tents and sleeping bags to deepen her connection to aboriginal knowledge. Her first lessons in animal tracking and friction fire building stirred a new passion for learning ancestral skills. Since, she has taken that passion and has used it spread her knowledge. Eva has taught several primitive and survival skill programs dedicated to empowering individuals through outdoor education. Eva is also a licensed art teacher and is currently making her living working as a tattoo artist.
Eva applied her lifetime of knowledge in aims to complete one goal: survive for 21 days in Madagascar. Catch Evaʼs episode of Naked And Afraid Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 on Discovery Channel.
