The new American Airlines will install five US Airways executives into the lead team, led by President Scott Kirby. Three members of the American Airlines’ parent corporation AMR will remain on the new executive board following the proposed merger.
US Airways CEO Doug Parker will retain his title after the merger is complete, which is expected this summer. Parker is expected to keep his key team members in place.
The leadership move may appease some of American’s union members who have a history of fighting that company over pay and employment issues.
