There are many local businesses and organizations that make Flagstaff a fabulous place to live, work and play. Flagstaff Independent Business Alliance has members across the board, with offerings that help make Flagstaff even better! By supporting locally owned small independent businesses, you are helping keep Flagstaff the fun, fabulous community it is. As the population grows in Flagstaff, there are more niche businesses and organizations that make getting what we need here in Flagstaff more convenient.
Flagstaff is known for being a town that loves and supports the arts. Flagstaff Cultural Partners is a big part of that. The organization does so in a way not often seen in a town our size.
“FCP supports and produces events that serve the whole community, and provides opportunities for artists to reach new audiences and grow as entrepreneurs,” said FCP Executive Director John Tannous. “Flagstaff is an amazing town with a lot of talent. We’re lucky to be part of that, so we work hard to highlight that talent and show it to everyone.”
Flagstaff Cultural Partners sponsors a favorite of many locals and visitors, First Friday ArtWalk. Flagstaff Cultural Partners coordinates and handles the advertising and map for this beloved monthly event. They also manage the Coconino Center for the Arts. The Coconino Center for the Arts hosts seven major art exhibitions and dozens of concerts and performances each year, including popular events such as the Recycled Art Exhibition and the Flagstaff Folk Music Festival. Supporting the arts extends to the youth in our community with events like the Youth Celebrate Art & Culture exhibition, highlighting youth performances from local schools.
“FCP has also launched the ArtBox Institute, a new program to provide business, marketing and financial training for independent artists and professionals in the creative field,” said Tannous. The ArtBox Institute is a nine-month professional development program for creatives, arts administrators and artists of any medium, any age, at any stage of a career.
Splendid Things, located downtown on Beaver St., offers unique clothing and gifts that you won’t find anywhere else in Flagstaff. The wonderful group of ladies that work there go out of their way to offer a shopping experience that includes personal shopping, gift selection and gift wrapping. They take the time to help you pick the perfect outfit or gift. They make customer service a top priority, and it shows.
They carry better clothing brands, with styles changing with the seasons. This is fashion you would expect to see in a large city. They bring chic to Flagstaff. If you are looking for an outfit for a special event, or if your wardrobe just needs some refreshing, the staff at Splendid Things will help you pick the right clothes and accessories for you.
“Having a good time in a relaxed, welcoming environment,” is what makes their job so enjoyable. “Friendly, fashionable and fun for a variety of needs and styles,” is what Splendid Things is all about.
Tec Rehab is the only dedicated storefront business in Flagstaff offering smart phone repairs for physical damage. Like many other small business owners, Seth and Kande Jacobson saw a need for a local business and filled it.
According to Kande, “We save people time, money and the inconvenience of sending their phone away to be fixed or having to drive out of town. You get your device back, often times in about an hour.” They work on iPhones, iPads, iPods, Droids and Tablets. Kande says a lot of the repairs they make are to phones damaged by either kids or dogs.
Most Apple products they service can be fixed same day, since they stock the parts. They are also doing memory upgrades for laptops and MacBooks. Kande said Seth’s Mac Book runs much faster after they upgraded his. They also sell high quality used phones, including iPhones. While they have your phone apart, they can also change the appearance, adding a “bling button” or a colored mirror screen. FBN
