Plenty of entertainment and family fun are on tap for the 64th Annual County Fair, which runs Labor Day weekend from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.
The Fair is held at Fort Tuthill County Park at 2446 Fort Tuthill Loop off of Interstate 17 south of Flagstaff, where visitors will find four days of live entertainment, livestock shows, thrilling carnival rides, traditional fair exhibits, food and activities for everybody.
“The County fair is always a regional favorite that draws visitors from throughout the state,” said Parks and Recreation Director Judy Weiss. “With multiple family friendly entertainments, comedy shows, carnival acts and rides for thrill-seekers, it’s clear to see why.”
Those interested in concerts will be serenaded by New Mexico music legend Al Hurricane, who will sing Friday, Aug. 30. The English new-wave band A Flock of Seagulls will then take the stage Saturday, Aug. 31, followed by Southern rock notables Atlanta Rhythm Section on Sunday, Sept. 1. American-country blues Reverend Peyton’s Big Band then plays Monday, Sept. 2.
Visitors can also be enchanted by culturally-diverse performances by Southwest storyteller and folk singer Tony Norris, in addition to Fushicho Daiko taiko (Japanese drumming), strolling musicians Sambatuque, Celtic Pipers and Native American dancers. Flagstaff favorites The Spokes, Buck it, Shinbo, Flagstaff Community Band, Nolan and the Confounders will also entertain.
Also on tap are Rose’s Pawnshop (Americana and bluegrass), Two-bit Shotgun (county and rock mix), Credence Relived (a Creedance Clearwater Revival tribute band) and the Rock Bottom Boys (bluegrass).
Fairgoers can also take advantage of Friday Dollar Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 30, when select Fair food is $1. The following events are also planned:
Homebrew competition will be held at noon Saturday, August 31.
The livestock auction begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
-Michael’s Crafts Day will have arts and crafts activities for kids and adults run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.
– Microbrew and craft beer tasting is new to the Fair and will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2. The tasting is hosted by the Friends of Coconino County Parks, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raise funds for Coconino County Parks and Recreation’s efforts in land conservation, park development, volunteerism and recreational activities.
Fair hours run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 2. Carnival rides run until 11 p.m. through Sept. 1 and 5 p.m. Sept. 2. Admission for adults is $8, seniors and children ages 6 to 12 are $5 and children under 5 are free.
Those looking to save while attending the Fair can take the free shuttle, which departs from the Pine Knoll Drive parking lot at Northern Arizona University. The shuttle begins at 4 p.m. Friday Aug. 30 and 10 a.m. from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
Fairgoers can also purchase a coupon book for $3 to take advantage of discounts of more than $100 at various food and commercial vendors and the $25 family pass, which includes admission for five people. Parking is $5.
