February 14, 2012, will mark the 100th Anniversary of Arizona Statehood. Coconino County is proud to launch its Centennial celebrations with a commemorative website showcasing people, history and culture in Coconino County. The webpage is located at http://www.coconino.az.gov/centennial” The website includes an interactive feature for citizens to submit their Coconino County stories. “The Centennial celebrations will be an opportunity to showcase the developments, challenges and opportunities in our County,” said Coconino County Centennial Committee Chair Gary Hanby. “Coconino County is proud of its heritage and diversity of peoples and cultures and is looking forward to the next 100 years.” The County is planning to celebrate the Centennial with a series of activities and events. Some of these activities include self-guided tours of Historical Markers in Coconino County, a tree dedication, and County open houses during the week of February 12, 2012. County Leadership has dedicated the restoration of the Old Historical Jail as a Centennial legacy project.
