The Coconino County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input on its proposed Cost Recovery Policy and fee changes for county park facilities and amenities.
The draft policy and fee changes can be accessed from the Parks and Recreation Department web page at www.coconino.az.gov/parks. From there, visitors can find information on the proposed fee schedule at public information gatherings. A meeting is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the County Human Resources offices at 420 N. San Francisco Street in Flagstaff. The last meeting will also be held at the County’s HR offices from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March. 21.
Input can also be provided via e-mail to ldavis@coconino.az.gov or by calling 928-679-8026.
Over the course of a year and a half, the Parks and Recreation Department has reviewed its policies and fee structure to ensure the fees charged cover the direct costs associated with various programs and services offered, said Director Judy Weiss.
“We have completed a cost analysis and fee evaluation and drafted a Cost Recovery Policy which, if approved, will serve as the foundation for how the department arrives at fees for its programs and services,” she said. “It is not only important to the County but to the taxpayers to ensure our parks have sufficient funding for maintenance and future investments in our parks and open areas.”
A cost recovery policy is in accordance with Parks and Recreation’s industry best practices and is anchored on principles of transparency, accountability and resource allocation. Draft cost recovery policy and proposed fees are available online at: http://www.coconino.az.gov/
