Flagstaff Medical Center’s Diabetes Education Program is reaching out and embracing those affected by diabetes by hosting two educational classes, Diabetes Prevention and Living Well with Diabetes. The classes are designed to provide information on preventing diabetes and ways to live healthfully for those already living with the disease.
Diabetes Prevention classes are offered the first Tuesday of each month from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., in FMC’s Gold Room on the fourth floor of West Campus, 1200 N. Beaver St. The class is designed to help identify the risk for developing type 2 diabetes, determine healthy eating and weight loss goals, and understand the importance of medications and physical activity. Content discussed in these classes is the same each time, so the class need not be repeated. The cost for this class is $20 payable at the time of the class; call 928 773-2249 to register.
Living Well with Diabetes is a four-week series that meets the first four Thursdays of every month. Each class will cover a variety of topics designed to help manage living with diabetes. The classes are in FMC’s Gold Room on the fourth floor of West Campus, 1200 N. Beaver St. To register for this series, please call 928 773-2249 or 928 773-2033. This course requires a physician referral for attendance and is billed through insurance.
