Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) once again is among Arizona’s Best Hospitals, according to U.S. News and World Report. The publication ranks FMC eighth in Arizona hospitals and a best hospital regional hospital in Northern Arizona. FMC is the only hospital north of the greater Phoenix area to make the list. This is the third consecutive year FMC has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report.
To be named a high-performing hospital, FMC had to meet criteria including being capable of providing quality care, having the ability to perform demanding procedures and be “high-performing” in at least one of 16 medical specialties. FMC was ranked high-performing in five specialties: geriatrics, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.
“FMC is committed to providing the highest quality medical care to its patients and their families,” said Bill Bradel, president/CEO of Flagstaff Medical Center. “To be named a high-performing hospital in Arizona and best regional hospital in Northern Arizona by such a prestigious publication shows the dedication and commitment of our board of directors, physicians and staff to be one of the best hospitals in Arizona and the U.S.”
U.S. News and World Report evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals annually. It analyzes patient safety, procedure volume and death rates. Physicians’ responses to a national survey in which specialists are asked to name hospitals they consider best in their specialty are also taken into account during the ranking.
