FMC Welcoming Neurologist

August 14, 2013 By techsuperadmin

Neurologist Katherine Riordan, M.D., recently joined the medical staff at Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC). Dr. Riordan’s arrival in Northern Arizona helps meet the need for highly skilled neurologists in the area and demonstrates FMC’s commitment to meeting the medical needs of the region.

Dr. Riordan specializes in treating epilepsy and utilizing electroencephalography (EEG) to record the electrical activity of the brain. Additionally, as a general neurologist, she will diagnose and treat conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and migraine headaches.

“Dr. Riordan is eager to bring her knowledge in neurology to the Flagstaff community and Northern Arizona,” said Steve Lewis, M.D., FMC chief medical officer. “Having Dr. Riordan as a member of our medical staff will only further enhance the medical care and services we provide to our patients and the region.”

Before coming to Flagstaff, Dr. Riordan completed a physician residency and an adult neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. She went on to complete a clinical epilepsy fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Riordan is board certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Riordan joins neurologist Srijana Zarkou, M.D. Both physicians care for patients hospitalized at FMC and are part of Team Health, a service of FMC, located at 107 E. Oak Ave. Team Health is an integrated multispecialty physician practice offering primary care, pediatric, internal medicine and neurology care. Team Health accepts Medicare, AHCCCS and all insurance plans. Appointments can be made by calling 928-913-8800. For more information, visit TeamHealthFMC.com.
