“Today, Arizonans and Americans commemorate the life and legacy of one of our nation’s most pivotal and influential civil rights champions, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“In a 1957 address to a Montgomery, Alabama, crowd, Dr. King proclaimed – ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?’ On this day dedicated to his life, I can think of no better way in which to honor Dr. King’s legacy than to consider his question an urgent challenge to each of us.
“Guided by Dr. King’s spirit and the humanity we each hold within, let us reach out to our friends and neighbors. Let us lend a hand to Arizonans in need. In helping others and preserving Dr. King’s core principles – justice, righteousness, equality and love – we both honor his memory and work to see his dream realized.”
