Mountain Heart Medical Practice, a locally owned and nationally accredited medical facility became one of only 3% of community clinics to achieve the federal government’s standards for “meaningful use” of certified electronic health records. The multifaceted medical facility participated in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. If not compliant by 2015, providers nationally receive a reduction in their Medicare reimbursement fee schedule.
Mountain Heart interventional cardiologists, James E. Carter, Jr., MD, FACC, Kent D. Winkler, MD, FACC, Robert Wolyn, MD, and Sleep Specialist and Pulmonologist, Steven Marks, MD are 4 of only 6600 physicians nationally that have successfully submitted for meaningful use for 2011. Mountain Heart will be compensated from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for this achievement. Incentives were established by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) to reward medical providers who successfully demonstrate meaningful use of their electronic health records (EHR) system in a way that improves the quality, safety, and effectiveness of patient –centered care.
Mountain Heart Cardiovascular Care Center and Sleep Facility holds patient care to a higher standard. They have become the number one, all-encompassing cardiac care facility in northern Arizona. Mountain Heart offers various treatments in-house such as: cardiac evaluations, dietary counseling, mental wellness counseling, stress tests, sleep studies, pacemaker and defibrillator checks, cardiac conditioning and wellness through partnership with DeRosa Physical Therapy and a series of prevention education classes for patients as well as offers monthly continuing medical education for local providers.
“Mountain Heart is dedicated to providing northern Arizonans with the most advanced technology at a fraction of the cost of other facilities.” Michael Zervas, Managing Partner said. “Our utilization of our electronic medical record system is just one way we have streamlined care coordination.
