Mountain Heart Sleep Facility has entered into a joint venture with Sleep Disorders Center of Flagstaff to provide Northern Arizona with a comprehensive care facility with the capacity and expertise to treat sleep disorders for patients ages three and up. At a single site, patients can receive specialized physician evaluation and consultation, state-of-the art in-laboratory or at-home diagnostic testing, initiation of treatment including positive airway pressure devices, durable medical equipment, as well as long-term follow-up and case management.
“Sleep Disorders Center of Flagstaff adds to our existing operations in the Flagstaff area and is in line with our strategy of providing streamlined services and cost efficient sleep care to our valued patients,” said Mountain Heart Health Services Managing Partner Michael Zervas, “We are pleased to add Board Certified Sleep Specialist Dr. Robert Rosenberg to our team of clinical experts, and look forward to continuing to provide the best sleep care possible to Flagstaff residents, as well as extended clinical availability.” Both facilities are accredited through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine providing quality diagnostic services and dedication to the longitudinal management of sleep patients. Additionally, the Mountain Heart Sleep Facility has upheld the Standards of Out-Of-Center sleep management and has been granted Out-of- Center Accreditation for a period of five years.
AASM accredited centers provide the highest quality patient care and are committed to ensuring that those in the field of sleep medicine provide excellent health care and enhance the awareness of sleep as an important element for health, public safety and the quality of life. Mountain Heart Sleep Facility will treat the full range of over 85 unique sleep disorders, including pediatric sleep problems, narcolepsy, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Sleep apnea may affect approximately one-third of the American population and insomnia may affect up to 50 percent of the population at one time or another.
“Dr. Rosenberg, Sleep Disorders of Flagstaff medical director, and Dr. Steven Marks, Mountain Heart Sleep Facility medical director, have both demonstrated through their accredited facilities a commitment to the highest levels of medical care,” Zervas said. “The Mountain Heart Sleep Facility will continue to grow and improve quality of life for patients throughout Northern Arizona. Our experts will provide sound clinical practice and a clear focus on effective treatments and outcomes.”
Dr. Rosenberg will aid in the transition of patients to the Mountain Heart Sleep Facility. Sleep Disorders Center of Flagstaff patients will be eligible to utilize Mountain Heart’s Durable Medical Equipment and on-site Respiratory Therapist, Chris Fisher, RRT, in order to save time, money and ensure treatment compliance.
“I am proud to be joining forces with Dr. Marks and the Mountain Heart Sleep Facility team,” Dr. Rosenberg said. “The combinations of our comprehensive care platforms are setting the standard for delivering sleep medicine excellence to a population in need. By leveraging our respective strengths, we are well-positioned as the leading sleep medicine brand in Northern Arizona.”
Dr. Marks said, “We are looking forward to adopting the best practices from each sleep facility and improving patient care through this transition.” The combination of the two practices will allow Mountain Heart Sleep Facility to offer an effective clinical approach to managing sleep disorders including a convenient referral process, accurate and timely assessment, diagnosis, treatment and long-term follow-up care to maximize patient compliance. Physicians practicing sleep medicine work closely with the patient’s primary physician or specialists to ensure that appropriate continuity of care is provided.
Regardless of age, failure to get adequate sleep can profoundly affect memory, cognitive function, learning, sense of well being and physical health. Sleep disordered breathing has been associated with hypertension, increased risk of heart disease, increased risk of stroke, difficulty controlling diabetes, depression and anxiety. Patients with untreated sleep disorders may suffer from daytime sleepiness and impaired judgement increasing risks of auto accidents. It is increasingly clear that good quality and adequate duration of sleep is imperative to good health. FBN
