Two Northern Arizona University students from the W.A. Franke College of Business have been awarded the prestigious Indigo Partners, LLC internship. Brian Kent and Justine Henderson, both accounting majors, were selected after a rigorous interview process.
Indigo Partners is a venture capital organization which invests in a number of different areas but has holdings in small airlines in particular. Interns spend a year with the company, traveling the world and helping to evaluate potential investment opportunities.
Associate Dean of the Franke College of Business, Eric Yordy, describes Indigo Partners as a very selective organization who only chooses interns when the right candidates come along, one or two at the most. “This year, they hired two, both from the FCB (Franke College of Business,)” Yordy tells Flagstaff Business News.
“The last (Indigo Partners) intern we had was a few years ago and he went on to an MBA program at the Chicago Booth School,” added Yordy.
Six NAU students made it to the in-person interview stage, which follows the extremely rigorous screening process: meeting with the Dean’s office, brushing up on financial modeling skills with faculty members and doing telephone interviews with members of the Indigo Partners.
In addition to this internship opportunity, Brian Kent has been selected as the Distinguished Senior for the Franke College of Business for the Spring 2011 commencement.
Justine Henderson has the honor of ‘the Outstanding Accounting Graduate for Spring 2011.’
