Motorists on State Route 89A in Sedona are driving on a smoother roadway following the repaving work that has been completed, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. However, crews are still installing roadway lighting along SR 89A from Dry Creek Road to Airport Drive, which are the last portion of the $3.4 million safety improvement project. This work will require lane closures and the closure of the intersection at Coffee Pot Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 12 between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Law enforcement will be on site throughout the closure, directing traffic through the intersection. Delays are expected.
Additionally, the project includes a new traffic signal at Andante Drive. The signal and the roadway lighting is scheduled for activation at the end of September.
Motorists are advised to pay close attention to signage and observe posted speed limits which will be reduced in the work zones.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
