Alpine & telemark skiers as well as snowboarders will be competing in a Giant Slalom course on Saturday and on Sunday in a boarder/skier/telemark cross. The events will draw 150 to 200 athletes per day and proceeds will benefit the Flagstaff Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team, a non-profit youth sports organization.
The Grand Canyon State Winter Games are open to all ages of skiers and snowboarders. Intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to participate in the Giant Slalom, which will take place on Saturday. The boarder/skier/telemark cross will be held on Sunday only on Southern Belle and will be for athletes ages 9 and over only. This event will involve an individual timed run for heat placement, then a four person format with the first two across the finish line advancing to the next heat.
