The Board of Directors for the Flagstaff Forty, a non-profit group representing a cross section of businesses and organizations in Northern Arizona, has unanimously voted to support the City of Flagstaff and Coconino County’s propositions 403 and 406 to raise taxes for road maintenance and repair.
The Flagstaff 40 is particularly sensitive to any increased tax burden especially in these turbulent economic times. However, the cost of delaying the repairs makes the likelihood of a much larger future financial burden highly probable. Additionally, by dealing with the problem today, there is a significantly reduced chance that inadequate funds will require a reduction of key services like snow plowing, road grading or pothole repair. Dave Engelthaler, Chairman of the Board said, “The Flagstaff Forty is pleased that the structure of the propositions ensure that the millions of annual visitors to Flagstaff will help pay for the upkeep of our roads. It is our belief that both the County and the City engaged in a thorough review process that included the city council, construction experts, citizens and local businesses.”
