Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Robert Kelty announced the promotion of David Roth as superintendent of the County Accommodation Schools District (CCASD).
Roth, whose promotion became effective Nov. 1, has served as principal of Ponderosa High School since July 2010. Roth will maintain his role as principal, but will take on additional responsibility as CCASD superintendent.
“I am looking forward to continuing the mission of the district while at the same time working with students, parents and the community,” said Roth, who previously served 20 years as Coconino High School principal.
CCASD provides direct services to address education needs that exist across the County. The District provides early childhood, alternative high schools and parenting programs to ensure our communities have an array of educational opportunities. From pre-natal to college, the District strives to support the educational system by providing the foundation needed for a sound educational system.
Kelty congratulated Roth and said he looks forward to a prosperous future for CCASD under new leadership.
“The time is right for Mr. Roth to take the helm,” Kelty said. “We have successfully elevated the expectations of the District, changed the culture of our high schools and promoted meaningful and robust academic experiences for students. We can’t stop moving forward and this promotion will ensure continued progress.”
Kelty will continue as CCASD Governing Board President while directing more time to county and state-wide educational affairs.
