The New Year brings the promise of a fresh start, renewed optimism, and reinvigorated hopes and dreams. To ring in 2016 in style, the Weatherford Hotel is offering “A Night to Remember” in the elegance of the Zane Grey Ballroom and wrap-around balconies.
Doors open for the formal gala at 8 p.m., with the celebration continuing through 2 a.m., Friday, New Year’s Day. “A Night to Remember” includes appetizers, desserts, entertainment, dancing, a champagne toast and exclusive balcony viewing of the Weatherford Hotel’s Great Pinecone Drop at 10 p.m. and midnight.
Local personality Joe Harting will lead revelers in song and the countdown to the New Year as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. The City of Flagstaff will provide fireworks following the Weatherford Hotel’s Great Pinecone Drop and LED light show.
Throughout the evening, guests may also enjoy live entertainment in The Gopher Hole Pub at the Weatherford Hotel with rock n’ roll band Buckit. Flagstaff DJs, known as The Countdown, will be keeping the party going in Charly’s Pub after the first Pinecone Drop at 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.
Tickets for “A Night to Remember” are $50 per person available at the Weatherford Hotel. Seating is limited. General admission to the Gopher Hole, the main floor and Charly’s is $20 at the door.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer such a special evening,” said Weatherford Hotel owner Henry Taylor. “When the hotel opened on New Year’s Day in the year 1900, The Coconino Sun described it as ‘First class in every respect.’ It’s been our dream and goal to restore the Victorian building to its original grandeur. And we believe the early Flagstaff newspaper would be saying the same thing about ‘A Night to Remember’ in the Zane Grey Ballroom, more than 100 years later.”
The Weatherford Hotel’s Great Pinecone Drop has been a Flagstaff tradition for 17 years and the highlight of the Northland holiday season. Thousands are expected to join in the countdown and celebration in the historic downtown, on the corner of Aspen and Leroux. The New Year’s Eve event is sponsored in part by Nackard Bottling Company and is free for all ages.
The Weatherford Hotel lowered the first oversized lighted pinecone on New Year’s Eve 1999 to commemorate the hotel’s centennial year. The Weatherford Hotel is the heart of Flagstaff, where the Northland comes home to celebrate.
