Former Flagstaff City Councilman Art Babbott is one step closer to becoming a Coconino County Supervisor. Babbott faced two democratic opponents in the race for the District One ballot spot. With 2098 votes cast in District One, which includes Flagstaff’s Downtown, Babbott earned 65% of the vote. Challenger Diane Lenz earned 25% and Lina Wallen 10%.
Babbott faces Independent Gail Dent in November’s General Election. Dent’s website says she is a proponent of less government in business and private property rights.
Babbott’s website says, if elected, he will address issues of regional economic development, fiscal management and budgeting, and public land management including forest health.
The winner of the election will replace Carl Taylor who is retiring.
