“Findlay’s support is always one of our top donations every year and it is so impactful. We are beyond thrilled to receive this donation,” said North Country’s Well Woman HealthCheck Program Manager Kristina Boniella. “On average, it costs $25,000 per person to pay for cancer treatment for a woman who is diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer. This annual donation from the Flagstaff Findlay dealerships is big and goes a long way to pay for surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy and sometimes reconstructive surgery.”
Alyshia Hassin, business manager for Findlay Honda and Findlay Volkswagen, spearheads the campaign. “I’ve had family members and friends affected by breast cancer, so it’s personal for me. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. We are lucky to have the support of all three Flagstaff Findlay dealerships that step up and get behind this cause. We feel it’s really important to have access to cancer screenings for the women in our community.”
The total donated through Flagstaff Findlay dealerships through Pinkotober campaigns is $58,000. “Alyshia is the big hero and champion who brought this need to our attention,” said Findlay Volkswagen General Manager Riley Donaldson. “Our team embraced it wholeheartedly. I believe it makes them feel better to come to work every day at a place that actively gives back to the community. The Findlays are really good people who encourage us in senior management to support important local efforts.”
Boniella says North Country serves more than 3,000 women each year with breast and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic follow up if necessary. The Well Women HealthCheck Program is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Findlay Toyota Flagstaff General Manager Brian Landauer says donating to NorthCountry and the Well Women HealthCheck Program feels great. “I have a number of family members who are breast cancer survivors and employees on the Findlay team who are survivors, so to be able to do something positive for the community and give back is a great feeling. This was one of our more successful years. We base our donation on the number of cars we sell and the number of cars we repair. I’m thankful to our customers who help us achieve our goal.”
Findlay Honda Flagstaff General Manager Jacob Lundie says all three Flagstaff Findlay auto dealers believe in early detection and the collective effort to participate in Pinktober.
“We donate $25 for every car sold and $1 for every repair order during the month of October,” said Lundie. “We all have had somebody affected by some type of cancer and breast cancer is one of the most common ones. We want to do our part to help.” FBN
