Gov. Jan Brewer will discuss the state of Arizona, key aspects of the upcoming legislative session and the recently formed Arizona Commerce Authority during her keynote speech at the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting & ATHENA Awards ceremony on Friday, January 21, 2011.
The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the High Country Conference Center.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Gov. Brewer and have her address the largest annual business gathering in Northern Arizona,” said Chamber President/CEO Julie Pastrick. “We look forward to her insights and observations as we head into the new year.”
The celebration will also feature the presentation of the ATHENA and ATHENA Young Professional Awards (see story, this page), as well as the passing of the gavel from Immediate Past Chairman Gary Seley (Seley’s Flagstaff Honda) to Mike Loven (Loven Contracting). Volunteer of the Year, Ambassador of the Year and Business Achiever of the Year Awards will also be presented.
The Annual Meeting will mark a major anniversary for the chamber. It was founded in 1891 as the Board of Trade, a non-profit, member organization. It was incorporated as an official ‘Chamber of Commerce’ in 1949 and is still housed in the building that was erected in 1952.
“For 120 years, the Flagstaff Chamber has worked to improve and protect the business climate and quality of life in our area by being an advocate for business, a community partner and resource,” said Pastrick. “And we plan to continue to serve businesses and the community in general for at least another 120 years.”
The Annual Meeting is an extraordinary opportunity to meet with about 400 of your business peers and community stakeholders. Individual tickets to the Annual Meeting are $50, or $360 for a table of 8. For more information or to register, go to www.flagstaffchamber.com or call the chamber at 928.774.4505.
