Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital Expands

Daryl WilliamsCoinciding with its 10th year of service to the community, Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has expanded its facility to continue to best meet the needs of patients in Northern Arizona.

The hospital, which has served more than 12,000 patients in the past 10 years, provides specialized rehabilitative care through its inpatient, outpatient and home health services. It treats patients recovering from disabilities caused by injuries or illnesses, such as strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and orthopedic injuries. It also provides intensive rehabilitation services for individuals living with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease and those needing specialized care following cardiac surgery.

The expansion has added four additional beds to the hospital to bring it to a total of 44 beds. The project also has created administrative offices for its home health services and increased the size of its therapy gym and treatment center from 6,000 square feet to 9,000 square feet.

“This is an exciting time for us as our expansion overlaps with our 10-year anniversary,” said Judy Baum, CEO of Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. “We’re celebrating our decade of care to the community while we consistently look for better ways to serve our patients. Our expansion is an example of our dedication to this. We’re making our facility additions in response to a growing need that has occurred in our community.”

The hospital, which has been operating since 2006, is adding on to its existing facility at 3700 N. Windsong Drive in Prescott Valley. Now that the project is completed, it expects to increase the number of patients treated from 1,400 to 1,600 annually. It also has created an additional 15 to 20 jobs for the area.

“We’re committed to ensuring that patients can remain in the area to receive the high-quality physical rehabilitative care that they need,” Baum said . “We’re privileged to be a part of the health care continuum in our community, and strive to be the best at what we do.”

Mountain Valley Regional Rehabilitation Hospital’s patient care efforts have been recognized nationally for the past nine years in a row, ranking them among the top 10 percent of inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the United States. The hospital also has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the organization’s disease-specific certifications for Stroke Rehabilitation and Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
