Southwest Windpower Hiring Mayor Presler

January 11, 2012 By techsuperadmin 1 Comment

Southwest Windpower, the world’s leading producer of small-scale wind generators for electricity generation announced today that it has hired Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler as General Counsel.

“As we grow through the development of business alliances and international expansion we now have sufficient needs for legal support to justify bringing much of our legal work in-house. We are fortunate to be able to attract someone of Sara’s caliber to join the Southwest Windpower team,” said Scott Brown, Southwest Windpower Interim CEO.

Southwest Windpower currently exports to more than 88 countries and now has resources in Germany and India. The company projects that in 2012 more than 60 percent of its revenue will come from exporting its three lines of US manufactured small wind turbines to assist the country in its push to expand US exports and jobs.

“In addition to her role of General Counsel Sara will also become a member of my operating team bringing a fresh perspective and insight into the various operating issues that challenge us. For Sara we will provide international commercial experiences which I am confident will be beneficial to her in whatever direction her future career takes her,” said Brown.

Presler, the first woman to serve as Flagstaff’s Mayor, will also be the first woman to serve as an in-house General Counsel for Southwest Windpower. “I am joining the Southwest Windpower operating team and look forward to being a part of the Southwest Windpower family. As we continue to expand into a global, tech marketplace, intellectual property and financial decisions require legal expertise and leadership,” Presler said. She continues, “Southwest Windpower is a US company focused on clean, renewable energy. We have strong intellectual property, US manufacturing, and global distribution. My main legal office will be based in Flagstaff—it’s a perfect fit for me and Southwest Windpower.”

Presler will complete her term as Flagstaff’s Mayor, stating, “All of our Flagstaff businesses are important to the success of our community. I’ll naturally step away from any direct votes or City decisions with Southwest Windpower, but I will continue to be a strong advocate for all small businesses in our City. Southwest Windpower is a strong supporter of civic leadership and supports me completing my service as Mayor.”
