Let’s face it: All businesses want to simplify HR, payroll and benefits. After all, human resources really means “HUMAN” resources – hiring, training and managing the people factor of a business.
Until recently, businesses that wanted a fully integrated HR, payroll and employee benefit technology solution migrated to national payroll companies that offered these bundled services in expensive products. Many were also sold as professional employer organization (PEO) contracts that offered everything from on-boarding to payroll and benefits. The downsides, besides the huge expense, were their limited insurance products, impersonal customer service and long contracts.
Today, there are many more options, most of which should save employers significant amounts of time and money and offer much more variety. These solutions are most often offered by benefit brokers/consultants and are widely customizable.
Most insurance brokers have adapted to one of two leading enrollment platforms: EASE and Employee Navigator. These systems can automate tasks like offer letters, on-boarding, benefit enrollments and open enrollment with the look and feel of a company’s true identity.
Next, these systems offer integrations with multiple national payroll companies, so if the employer wants to use a payroll solution, he or she can choose one that best meets the service and pricing requirements. Once the payroll and the benefit systems are connected, information is seamlessly transferred between the two to provide a fully integrated solution.
These systems also integrate with many insurance carriers as well. This means that enrollment and terminations are automatically sent to the insurance carriers, expediting the process and eliminating errors.
Finally, most insurance brokers offer HR technology solutions that offer access to compliance guidelines, handbook creators, job description databases, online training and even live help lines. So, businesses, regardless of size, have access to the tools needed to take their business to the next level. FBN
