BBVA Compass announced that banking veteran Mike Sventek has been named Flagstaff city president. From his Flagstaff home base, Sventek will lead the market’s Commercial Banking team to support continued growth and development in the area, while also acting as the bank’s representative for various city and community organizations. Sventek replaces Andy Wykstra, who was recently named western regional director for Commercial Banking, relocating to Denver, Colo.

Sventek graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. He is also a graduate of the former Norwest Bank Commercial College of Credit and participated in the Masters level program at the University of Washington’s Pacific Coast Banking School. His employment history spans 20-years at Norwest/Wells Fargo, rising from store manager to his most recent position of district manager, based out of Bend, Ore.
Sventek is active in the community, having served on multiple non-profit boards, including Deschutes Children’s Foundation, the Economic Development for Central Oregon, the Flagstaff American Cancer Society and the Flagstaff Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. He is also a past president and secretary for the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce and a former Prescott Valley Rotary member.
Sventek and his wife Jennifer are proud parents of Peyton and Sydney.
