Thirty years ago, Coconino Community College was born. The birth was a two-step process: First, voters had to decide if they wanted to form a community college district; second, they had to decide to fund the district with property taxes. CCC Celebrates Three Decades of Putting Students First
The Hubble Telescope was launched into orbit. The World Wide Web was born. The Soviet Union was formally dissolved, and Seattle-based “Grunge” music dominated the airwaves. Each year in April, Coconino Community College bustles with activity. Students study with earnestness for upcoming finals. Faculty and staff hurry about to meet student learning needs and to prepare for a full calendar of events. This year is different. Although the Arizona Legislature showed a commitment to education by supporting public community colleges with one-time funding in the 2019-20 state budget, there is still work for us to do.
