Kurt Davis views each of his jobs as a learning experience. He then takes that knowledge with him to his next job and begins learning all over again. “Everywhere I’ve gone, I tried to learn and use those lessons,” he said. Some of the jobs he has held over the years include working for two governors, working for an attorney general and being the spokesman for a firefighting association in 27 states. He was also the head of Arizona’s Republican party, a vice president at NAU and now runs … [Read more...] about Serving Arizonans in Several Capacities

Region Embracing Renewables
In many ways, Northern Arizona – and Coconino County in particular – is poised to harvest great benefits from renewable energy potential that outpaces the potential in much of the rest of the country. But the first wave of utility-scale projects has met with some resistance – and it has sent local land use planners to the drawing board. Coconino County has a draft of its new renewable energy guidelines out for review in a document called “Energy Element,” available on the web. County planners … [Read more...] about Region Embracing Renewables

One of the great advantages of living in Northern Arizona is the chance to see all sorts of wildlife. Now, knowing where you’ll have the best chance to do that in the Flagstaff area should soon be easier. Business Neutralizing Rattlesnake and Scorpion Venom
According to the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Arizona is home to the most dangerous rattlesnakes, spiders, lizards, and scorpions in the nation. So it is appropriate that researcher and veterinarian Dr. Craig Woods of BioVeteria Life Sciences chose Prescott as the home of his new business venture. BioVeteria is a new bioscience company that is developing neutralizers for rattlesnake and scorpion venom for our animal friends. “We estimate there are about 7,000 rattlesnake bites in humans … [Read more...] about Business Neutralizing Rattlesnake and Scorpion Venom

He says the nonpartisan group wants to put faces to the dollar signs shooters and hunters contribute to local economies. "There are so many people that derive a … [Read more...] about Arizona’s Hunting Industry Remaining Strong
Hunting in the Aftermath of the State’s Largest Wildfire
When Sonny Tapia first went into the forest after the Wallow Fire, the devastation brought tears to his eyes. The lifelong resident of eastern Arizona feels as comfortable in the surrounding wilderness as he does in his living room. "Seeing the places I grew up camping as a kid, the beauty was just gone," he said. But Tapia is quick to look for the silver lining, predicting a surge in trophy deer and elk in the region. "One thing positive to come out of it is going to be the excellent … [Read more...] about Hunting in the Aftermath of the State’s Largest Wildfire

Last year, the AZGFD purchased the 160 acre Foster Ranch near Walnut Canyon National Monument with the intention of developing a range. The department has been looking for a suitable location for a shooting facility for nearly 20 years. The location has drawn criticism from many Northern Arizona residents and several tribes who think building a shooting range next to a national … [Read more...] about Shooting Range On Track for 2013 Opening
